Summary
This quaint hot spring inn is located amidst the rich nature of Hokkaido, just 15 minutes by car, from Otaru Canal. Situated right at the entrance to Asarigawa Hot Springs, it is just 1 hour from New Chitose Airport, and only 30 minutes from Sapporo using the expressway. It is a single building inn with its vast premises surrounded by a quiet residential area.
Policy
The gardens, which spread across 26,400 square meters, was first landscaped by the original owner in the early Showa period, and now houses large trees that are over hundred years old. In early May, 200 cherry trees bloom at once, attracting many visitors to this scenic site in Otaru.
From late May to June, wisteria and azaleas bloom, and from summer on, you can enjoy the beautiful Japanese snowball, hydrangea, and carefully cared roses.
The inn takes on a different countenance as the trees change color in October, and the pure white snow falls in winter.
Room
There are 28 rooms with private outdoor bath, including 2 Specialty suites, 2 two-bedroom suites, 5 Japanese-Western rooms (incl. 2 barrier-free rooms), 11 Japanese rooms (10 mats), and 8 Maisonette type rooms on the second floor. The Maisonette type rooms have living quarters on the first floor, with outdoor bath on the second. The guest rooms with private outdoor bath have showers that can be used during the winter as well.
Cuisine
Generous amounts of Otaru's local fresh ingredients are used to make a delicious Japanese set meal.
Hot Springs
The inn has its own fountainhead on the premises, where 80 tons of spring water are drawn everyday from 500 meters underground, straight to the baths. The spring is a pH8.7 alkaline simple spring. Heating system is maintained since the temperature of the fountainhead water is 27 degrees Centigrade. Tap water is not added to the spring water.
