A luxurious Japanese inn where you can immerse yourself in the mysterious "Shikotsuko blue" of Lake Shikotsu.

Summary

Lake Shikotsu, is a mysterious lake known for its gorgeous blue color, often referred to as "Shikotsuko blue." Another interesting aspect of this area is the Kiusu Earthwork Burial Circles from the Jomon era, the northernmost site in Japan, which have been preserved, and show the serene lifestyles of the people who have lived in the area for the past 3,000 years. Rich natural beauty, the spirit and lifestyle inherited from our ancestors, are passed onto future generations on the theme of "blue."

Policy

The theme here at "Ao no Za," is to breath modern life into the story, which has been passed down from our northern ancestors of the Jomon era. Inside the lobby stands an eight meter laminated wall, which depicts the change and shaping of cultures, from Jomon to Ainu , and into modern culture. Numerous designs showing respect for our ancestors, and hope for a tranquil life, are embedded throughout the interior of the facility.

Room

All guest rooms are with an area of 100 square meters and views of the lake. As an innovative Japanese-style inn, Ao no Za is the most luxurious inn of the Tsuruga Group. The separate wing houses 4 high-class rooms that focus on ultimate privacy, two of which are mezzanine-style executive suit villas, with over 200 square meters in area. Each offers a sense of staying in a private vacation home.

Restaurant

Our delectable dining offers exquisite, northern-style Japanese course meals on a "natural and luxurious" theme, and made with locally-sourced, choice ingredients. Every ingredient listed in the "glossary of seasonal foods of Hokkaido," is creatively expressed.

Hot Springs

Private hot spring bath and indoor jet bath have been installed in each guest room, so guests can unwind and relax without restraint. We hope you will indulge yourself by soaking in the hot springs, and watching the beautiful blue water of Lake Shikotsu change as time flows.
